About Us
Our Impact
Because lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death, we must take action.
LCFA’s solution is making a measurable difference for lung cancer patients.
Millions of lives will be saved by addressing the interrelated factors currently giving lung cancer an unequal footing. Focused research, increased awareness, and educated patients give us the upper hand on lung cancer.
We’re funding impactful research

LCFA is at the forefront, opening the door to private sector funding to support research that will predict, detect, and treat lung cancer. Our proven approach changes the outcome for lung cancer patients, sparks hope for the future, and pulls lung cancer out of the shadows.
Through strategic $200,000 grants, LCFA has funded promising researchers, investing over $4 million in innovative research projects. The impact of these initial investments has been extraordinary – our funded researchers have leveraged their LCFA grants to secure additional follow-on funding from major institutions like the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Industry partners. This remarkable return on investment demonstrates how LCFA’s early support helps launch careers and accelerate breakthrough research in lung cancer treatment and care.
Examples of some of the challenges in lung cancer treatments that they are addressing include:
- Gut biome and its relationship to lung cancer
- Immunotherapy
- Adjuvant Therapy
- Demystify lung cancer in never-smokers
- Genomic sequencing of lung tumors

We’re increasing public awareness and changing perceptions.

Growing awareness of lung cancer is essential for saving lives and bringing hope to patients. The public in general as well as healthcare providers in particular must know about lung cancer’s alarming prevalence, its causes, and the crucial importance of early detection through screening.
LCFA boosts public awareness by sharing survivor / advocate stories and presenting lung cancer facts and research.
The power of connection and story boosts awareness so that more people are primed to take action and fight lung cancer.
Our efforts include:
